Logo grid systems, construction guides, and circles are powerful techniques for creating a design.
These grids and circles with angles are used to brainstorm and analyze the idea of the logo mark. That grid is used to generate meaningful symbols and letters.
That technique is used to tend to Simplicity/figure and ground/closure/ Continuity
Personally, this technique to make sure that the form is optically balanced, however, I also think it’s not needed all the time. It might add too much rigidity to the design.
